What is YuJa Panorama? #
YuJa Panorama is a digital accessibility tool that helps you access course materials in formats that work best for you while also helping you create more accessible documents yourself. It is available in Canvas and through a direct link.
Alternative Formats #
Alternative Formats are available in your Canvas courses. With the click of a button, you can create an alternative version of the original file that can support your learning preferences and accessibility needs. Here are a few that may help you get more out of your course materials:
- Audio Podcast: Converts written content into audio that can be listened to online or downloaded. This is useful for auditory learners or students who prefer listening to assigned readings.
- Immersive Reader: Allows customizations to text preferences, grammar options, and reading preferences while following along with the audio playback.
- Gradient Reader: Enhances visual word recognition when reading by providing a guiding color gradient.
- EPUB: Creates an e-book version of the content that can be viewed in many e-reader applications and mobile devices.
- OCR Formats: OCR formats can extract text and make content searchable, readable, and usable with screen readers.
Accessing Alternative Formats #
When an instructor uploads supported files to Canvas, such as PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, or Excel files, Panorama displays an Alternative Formats icon next to the file. Selecting this icon opens the Alternative Formats menu, where you can view or download available versions of the document.

Making Your Own Content Accessible #
DocHub #
DocHub is Panorama’s document management space. You can upload documents, review accessibility feedback, use tools to fix accessibility problems, and access Alternative Formats the same way you can in Canvas. This can be especially useful when you want to check the accessibility of a document before submitting an assignment or sharing it with others.
There are two ways to access DocHub.
If your instructor has made the Panorama course navigation link available in Canvas, you can open any of your courses and select Panorama from the course navigation menu. From there, you’ll be able to access DocHub and its accessibility tools.
You can also access DocHub directly without entering a course by visiting:
Using DocHub to Improve the Accessibility of Your Documents #
When you upload a document to DocHub, YuJa Panorama automatically reviews it for common accessibility issues. The accessibility feedback identifies potential barriers that may make a document difficult for some people to read, navigate, or use. For each issue it finds, Panorama explains why the issue matters and provides recommendations for how to fix it.
For many issues, Panorama’s Inline Remediation tools allow you to make suggested changes directly within DocHub. Instead of switching between multiple applications, you can review accessibility feedback, make corrections, and improve your document in the same workspace. Once your corrections are complete, you can download your accessible document.
Many students find these tools helpful when preparing assignments, presentations, reports, or other course materials that will be shared with instructors, classmates, or the public.
