3D Design Project

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 60-minute blocks.

• Help getting started with 3D modeling and design.
• Using Tinkercad to learn beginning of 3D modeling.
• Learning about other 3D design tools available for more advanced projects. Consultations on advanced tools varies year to year.

Audio Project

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 30-minute blocks.

• Help getting started with audio projects.
• Learning about the tools available for audio editing.
• Discovering audio resources for projects.
• Consultation on advanced audio tools varies year to year.
• If you have been assigned a particular tool, please indicate that in the comment when you book an appointment.

Excel Project

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 30-minute blocks.

• Help learning to navigate excel.
• If you need help with a particular feature of excel, please put this in the comments when you book an appointment.

Image/Graphic Project

Duration: This appointment is schedule is 30-minute blocks.

• Help getting started with a variety of image based projects including:
  • Photo editing
  • Infographics
  • Graphic design
• Finding media resources to use and remix for image and graphic projects.

Mapping & Timeline Project

Duration: This appointment is schedule is 30-minute blocks.

• Help getting started with mapping & timeline projects.
• Using online tools to create interactive maps and/or timelines.

Video Project

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 30-minute blocks.

• Help getting started with video projects.
• Using video editing tools to edit or combine videos.
• Footage has already been recorded or student needs help discovering video resources.
• Working with screen recording tools like Zoom, ScreenPal, or Microsoft PowerPoint.
• If you have been assigned a particular video editing tool, please put this in the comments when you book an appointment.

Website Project

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 60-minute blocks.

• Signing up on Domain of One’s Own or Sites@UMW.
• Installing WordPress, Omeka, or other software onto your Domain of One’s Own Account.
• Working with WordPress (creating content, changing your theme, etc.).
• Working through issues encountered on your site.
  • If you are encountering a particular issue, please put this in the notes of your appointment booking.
• Getting assistance migrating your Domain of One’s Own Account when you leave UMW.
• Assistance with simple HTML or CSS coding for a website project varies year to year.

General Appointments

Digital Project Consulting

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 60-minute blocks.

• Students sit down with a consultant to get help on brainstorming and execution of a digital project.

Presentation & Visual Aids

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 30-minute blocks.

• Help getting started with slide deck builders.
• If you need help with a specific tool, please put this in the comments when you book an appointment.
• If you’re seeking help in organizing and delivering a presentation, we recommend visiting our colleagues in the Speaking & Writing Center.

Productivity Tools

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 30-minute blocks.

• Help getting started with tools such as Zoom, Canvas, Slack, Teams in support of distance learning.
• If you have a particular tool you need assistance with, please put this in the comments when you book an appointment.

If you are unsure, or the specific tool you need help with isn’t listed, select this option. We may not be experts in what you are looking for, but we have lots of experience tracking down resources on technologies and digital tools. We will do our best to help!

Space Training

3D Printer Training

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 45-minute blocks.

• We require that students be trained in using the 3D printer before they are allowed to work independently.
• Once you have been trained, you will be added to a site where you can reserve the 3D printer for use. You will only be able to reserve and use the printer when the Digital Knowledge Center is open.

HCC Loaner Equipment Training

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 30-minutes blocks.

• Help getting started with the equipment kits available at the HCC Info Desk.

HCC Production Studio Training

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 45-minute blocks.

• We require that students be trained in using the equipment in the Charnoff Advanced Media Production Studio before they are allowed to work independently in the studio.
• In addition to booking a tutorial, you MUST also reserve the studio for the time of your appointment (through 25 Live Express Scheduler); you may wish to check on the availability of the studio before making your appointment.
• Once you have been trained, your name will be added to a list of approved users. You will only be able to reserve and use the room when the Hurley Convergence Center Front Desk is open and desk aides are on duty.

Podcast Studio Training

Duration: This appointment is scheduled in 30-minute blocks.

• We require that students be trained in using the equipment in the podcast studio before they are allowed to work independently in the studio.
• Once you have been trained, you will be added to a site where you can reserve the Podcast Studio for use. You will only be able to reserve and use the room when the Digital Knowledge Center is open.
