- This is a good framework for thinking about how to troubleshoot. It is easy to just jump in with assumptions, but asking questions (just like in consulting) and gathering information is important.

Let’s break your site and then fix it! Here’s how we’ll break it:
- Go into your subdomain site for training (or some other site you don’t mind breaking for a bit).
- On the Settings > General page change both the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to something else and hit save.
- Now is the time to use your google skills to see if you can figure out how to resolve this. You will find lots of different advice for this kind of problem and not all of them make sense for our setup on Domain of One’s Own. I encourage you to struggle with this a bit before asking for help. See what you can uncover. It is okay if you can’t figure out how to unbreak your site (in fact there are multiple ways to unbreak it).
- Write a blog post about it. This can be a narrative form, bulleted list, or even a screencast! Be sure to include things like:
- A screenshot of what your site looked like after you broke it
- Search terms you used while googling
- Sites that you found (and whether you were helpful or not)
- Any steps you took to try to fix it (even if those steps didn’t work)
- Anything else that was part of your experience troubleshooting
