- Some things you still have questions about or need more clarification on.
- I cannot think of any questions at the moment.
- Is there anything the accessibility checker revealed that you couldn’t modify?
- It was upset with me over the profile pictures of commenters not having alt text.
- Link to the “bad web design” page and talk about all the things you did to make it as inaccessible as possible.
- Bad Design (I hated this)
- I made sure that the images used had no alt text, made the text as awful to read as possible, and pretty much just did the opposite of what the checker said was done well.

My First WordPress Website
After trying out many, many themes, and a recommendation from Adi, I landed on the Astra theme. I found this theme super customizable which is awesome because I was looking forward to the design aspect of this project. Due to the digital nature of this sites purpose, I went for a tech/futuristic look. I included some edited images of the American Dogwood flower to create the black, white, and green color palette. I chose the American Dogwood flower to be the figurehead for this site because I wanted to include nature to contrast with the other tech elements in this design. The American Dogwood is also the national flower of Virginia, so I thought it would be nice to tie that in.
Something new I learned about WordPress is that the themes all have different customizability levels making some more efficient than others. At first, I had a hard time finding a theme that did everything I wanted because I was choosing one based on how I wanted mine to look in the end rather than one that provided a good base.
A fun fact about me is that I was a competitive gymnast for 7 years. So, for my YouTube video to embed I choose my childhood favorite gymnast Shawn Johnson’s 2008 Olympics Qualifying Balance Beam routine. I genuinely think it is one of the best beam routines of all time so I would recommend watching!
Thanks for tuning in to my blog, check back in soon for a new update. And as always, stay creative.

I Survived My First Mock Consultation!
The heading says it all! I had my first mock consultation today with Mayday (played by Zoe). I had forgotten most of what was asked of me (oops), but by utilizing the DKC guides as well as asking my fellow consultants, I was able to help Mayday set up a Doman of One’s Own account!
Feeling: victorious.

Linked my subdomain to my main domain!
After establishing my DKC training subdomain, I was focusing mainly on sprucing up my main domain. Now that I’m happy with the way my main homepage looks, I can work on my DKC training page, which is what I was tasked with doing in the first place.
So I figured out how to make a widget and hyperlink for my subdomain, and now they’re connected! And here is my subsequent first blog post.
Yay!
Be on the lookout for more blog posts on both my main domain and DKC training subdomain.

3-D Printing FUN!
This was seriously my favorite project yet, although I did also really enjoy the ADC video…
I loved getting to design my own little nametag!I think TinkerCard was an interesting and easy beginner tool to work with, however, it definitely has its quirks and limitations. I felt very restricted as to what I could actually do with my design until I discovered a tool where I could morph and squish stuff similar to using a pen tool in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop since I have experience in that. However, I couldn’t add any more points to morph and was stuck to the amount they gave me (I think it was about 5 points.
For anyone who may think I’m talking crazy nonsense, this is what the pen tool looks like in Adobe. You can drag points and curve them to make shapes.
For my name tag, I’m not really sure where I drew inspiration from I just thought of things I like to draw and one of those things is cute little dragons. So I made him sleepy and cute.
This was my original design I drew on Procreate, and then my final 3D design! I wish I added the little arms but it kind of looked weird when I tried to do them in TinkerCard.
Unfortunately, I have not found time to print my nametage yet! But I will update this post when I do.

Top-Secret Video Project Rough Cut
For the past few weeks, I have been working on a top-secret video project about the Analog Disinformation Center. This is just the rough cut, but soon I will receive feedback and create the final masterpiece. To create this video, I used the Canva editor. Since most people coming to the DKC will probably be using Canva, I figured I should use it more to get familiar with it. Overall, I have had a fun time making this video. I hope everyone enjoys it, and I am so excited to see everyone else’s videos!
