3/12/25: Second Mock Consultation Reflection

  • What parts of the consultation made you feel confident, and why?
    • I think I was good about giving directions and double checking my work. I also think I did a decent job comforting the student by relating to them.
  • Was there a moment during the consultation that felt tricky? How did you handle it?
    • It was tricky to fill dead air when the wifi was being really slow. I also sometimes struggled with blanking on knowledge.
  • How did you go about figuring out what the student needed and wanted?
    • I asked about what the issue or assignment was and asked to see the assignment. This allowed me to get an idea of what the person wanted as well as what the assignment itself was.
  • What did you learn about your own consulting style from this experience?
    • I find that I try to relate to the person a lot and try to work alongside them.
  • What would you change in your next consultation based on what you learned this time?
    • I would try to keep better track of time. I think I cut it a bit too close, even if it was partially because of the wifi.
