Things to Know #

Qualtrics is a web-based survey platform that allows users to create and distribute surveys. It’s available free to UMW students, faculty, and staff at UMW’s Qualtrics portal here (requires login with a UMW NetID and password).

Qualtrics offers advanced survey instruments that are especially useful in the context of research, such as the ability to create custom logic flow between questions or to randomize question order for each participant. There are several question types that Qualtrics features for use, such as matrix tables, text entry, graphical sliders and more.

Survey data collected in Qualtrics can be transferred to spreadsheet tools like SPSS or Excel, and custom timeframes for taking the survey and metadata collection can also be set up.
